Year of Faith

Pope Benedict XVI has announced a “Year of Faith” beginning October 2012, which is the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Year of Faith will end November 2013 on the celebration of Corpus Christi. The Year of Faith is designed to renew our Catholic faith so that we will be credible, joy-filled witnesses to the Risen Lord in the world today, capable of leading others to faith. Life and Liberty

Project Life and Liberty
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ “Project Life and Liberty” is a campaign to encourage Congress not to force taxpayers to subsidize abortion, and to protect the religious freedom of Catholic and faith based institutions in their ministries. Congress is now beginning to consider “must pass” appropriations legislation. This allows the opportunity for legislative action to reverse the Department of Health and Human Services mandate violating freedom of religion and religious expression. Please refer to the front page of the diocesan website: and click on the ACTION ALERT! on the front page, which will then advise you how you might take action.
